Constipation: Here’s the Poop

Update November 16, 2015

I am now not constipated for the most part. I stopped drinking milk and eating yoghurt to eliminate most dairy from my diet and no more problem (as someone of Northern European descent, I couldn't imagine this was a problem. Try it.

I must mention, however, that having feces in my rectum or post bowel movement, my vulvar pain flares. So what is that about? Trying to figure it out.

Anal retentive, anyone? Your pelvic floor is tight, even your rectum is uptight and your stool is stuck. This was a huge problem for me and is for others, too. For years, I wouldn’t mention it when I went through the doctor’s check-off list and I have been constipated forever. I have found my fix. Suspend judgement here:

I stick my thumb into my vagina. I can feel the poop through the vaginal wall. I gently massage down the poop (which is solid pellets because you are constipated) until it comes out. I am only getting at the lower rectum this way, but at least things keep moving and I avoid that nauseating pain of being constipated. I have to do this most days. But when I might be able to go on my own either lean back on the toilet (rather than hunching forward) or rock forward and back.

In terms of lifestyle, I have found that exercise, surfing the web, and eating kale help. And, yes, I have tried everything else from fleet enemas to medications.
